Anyone who has ever spent time shopping online for men’s tungsten wedding bands and rings has probably wondered, “What is the difference between a wedding band and a wedding ring?”
After all, they are both worn on the left ring finger, both symbolize marriage, and both are available in a variety of metals and designs. When I asked some friends of mine if they knew the difference, it seemed like everyone had a different theory. So I posed this question to a jeweler I know, and was surprised at his answer.
“There is no difference,” he said, “they’re one and the same.”

It’s interesting how many people are convinced that there is really a difference between a men’s wedding band and rings. It used to be that a wedding “band” was made only of plain gold, in a traditional domed design. So it may be that jewelry makers decided to differentiate their more unique styles by calling them “rings” instead of “bands”. Who knows?
One thing is for sure, men’s wedding bands and rings have changed dramatically over the past several years. Gone are the days when men had their fiancé pick out a nice gold band.
